I know MLA documentation very well. In "getting started" with Mendeley, I've experimented with nine PDFs on citations and bibliographic information. The information is not importing correctly. For example, it does not specify "web" or "print" (something that MLA 7 requires)on the bibliographic information...Also, MLA citations require the page number of citation.
My university is connected with RefWorks, which is not infallible, but at this point, it's working better for me than Mendeley.

I can't´t find Mendeley on the Word menu.
Mendeley is installed on my iMac and I use Word 2008. I have followed the instructions for installation on Word but no way Mandley is visible in Word. Clicking on the script icon there is nothing. No Mendeley toolbar to be found anywhere.

I have [already] written a paper in word and am now in the process of editing it. One of the things that I need to make sure is that that the references are all properly formatted in the APA style.
I work on a Mac. How may I use Mendeley to assist me in this process?

adding a Patent entry
Dear Sir/Mdm,
Please, can you help me in fixing the problem, described below?
I added in Mendeley Desktop an entry manually with the "Type" - "Patent", filled required fields such as "Title", "Year", "Country", "Assignee" etc. Then I placed the link to it in my article manuscript (using Mendeley MS Word Plugin), and inserted bibliography. The item in the bibliography citing mentioned patent looks like this:
22 A.N. Ponomarev and V.A. Nikitin, U.S. Patent No. 2196731 (2000).
But, how did the letters "U.S." appear here? I did not specify them in an any field. I guess they mean United States, but in the field "country" I specified "Russian Federation".
Is it a bug in "Patent" type of entry? Can I fix it somehow?

Importing files from Reference Manager
Dear sirs,
I'm having problems importing my Reference manager files. I read several FAQs in your page and was able to export my database as a .ris file. But then I loose the ID (and those are really important, as I have a lot of real papers kept on real files, real books, etc). I also read the following FAQ:
I have thousands of paper reprints indexed in Reference manager and filed under the refid serial number generated by reference manager. Not wanting to re-file all of those if I switch to Mendeley, is it possible to use that field in Mendeley?

Nicolas from Meneldeley Support helped me find a solution. Refman had exported the RefID field with a tag "ID - ", which is not an official RIS tag, so it was ignored by Mendeley. I used a text editor to replace "ID - " with "N1 - " in the text file to convert these values to notes. After importing the file, these numbers appear in the Notes field of Mendeley, so my problem is solved.
However, I tried this and it did not work (I have real notes; it may be the reason). I tried several other code-options, including telling Mendeley that my ID could be Language (codes that I will surely not use). Nothing works. The identifier simply does not appear in any of the fields. Is there another way to solve this?

Word plug-in
This was working beautifully last night, I could insert the citation just fine and today the Mendeley option didn't come up when I clicked on 'Insert Citation'.So I thought I would delete the plug-in and insert it again. Well that was a bad idea because now when I try to insert the plug-in I am asked to close Outlook and/or Word and as far as I can see neither of them are open. Any other ideas. My assignment is due... aargh.... Alfiah

I have the same problem like Gabriele (http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/913487-installing-openoffice-plugin) but I am using LibreOffice.
When I choose 'Tools' the option to install the LibreOffice-plugin does not appear.
My OS is Windows 7, the LO version is 4.0.2.2, the Mendeley version is 1.8.4 and I already tried it with OpenOffice where I encountered the same problem.
My guess is that the problem derives from the circumstance that I am using portable versions. Is there or will there be a possibility to use Mendeley with those as well?

PDF rendering issue between Macbook pro retina display and an external monitor
It is a good news that the latest Desktop Mendeley support the MacBook retina display. However, it introduce another problem, that is when the Mendeley window moves from the retina display to an external monitor or vice versa, it causes rending problem for those opened pdf.

Mendely Desktop can not connect the internet / Unable to start Mendeley Desktop
good morning, i have installed mendely but it can not start it. Since a while the following messages come up when I'm about to insert a bibliography.
"Unable to start Mendeley Desktop automatically:
Try starting Mendeley Desktop manually."
AND
"Mendeley Desktop is already running - click the Mendely icon
in the taskbar or dock to activate it"
In addition Mendely Desktop can not connect the internet.

modifying the format of the mendeley bibliography in Word
How can I change the bibliography output style. For instance, in the word document, I would like the references to include only the first three authors and then "et al.", have a certain page number format, etc.

Customizing the inline citation-part of a CSL style

I am using the MIS Quarterly style, customized to German. Here's an inline citation example:
(Bughin und Chui 2013 S. 3)
I would like to use a comma as a separator between the date and the page, like so:
(Bughin und Chui 2013, S. 3)
Trying to achieve this with the CSL editor did not proof successful. Could you kindly help me?

Inserting a bibliograpghy
I have a bibliography which a i created manually. I am now reformatting it to make the styles consistent. I thought I could do this easily and quickly in Mendeley, but NO. When I try to insert a reference in my bibiliography I go to insert citation. The citation appears then I click insert bibliography. The reference appears next to the citation, fine. But I have to delete the citation eg Perkin 2011, and then I have the reference in place. OK so far so good but a but clumsy. Then I try to repeat the next reference and it deletes/replaces the previous ones. What am I doing wrong?

Libreoffice Plugin in Fedora 17
Hello. I am running Libreoffice 3.5.7.2 in Fedora 17. Libreoffice is fully updated. When I try to enable the plugin for Mendeley I get three errors, all about the binary URP bridge being disposed. They come up one after another. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the plugin and the program. I have searched the forums for solutions, but haven't found anything that looks like this same problem. Any ideas? Thanks.
