I Have 2 questions:
1 - My opening window in Mendeley, does not have divisions on top to order papers by author, date, journal....; there is only the left side 3 buttons, type a reference used (Harvard, Vancouver...)... what can I do?
2 - I would like to know if it is possible to insert in my paper only the number of the reference and I do not know how to do it...
I would appreciate a tip here

QT error at execution
I try to run mendeley (desktop) on my laptop with gentoo Gnu/linux (amd64).
I get this error, witch seems to come from QT4 :

Word doc list of refs
Hi I see in 2012 someone asked if their word document ref list could be integrated into the Mendelay refs manager...answer not yet...any advice on how to now...I have 7 pages of references which i need to place in a library?
Otherwise, cheeky I know, Is it possible with other refs managers as I've not started using this ref manager yet?

Endnote Label Field
Dear Support team,
I have just started using Mendeley, so far I have been using Endnote. In Endnote, I use the Label field to organize both my prints/books and my stored PDFs, by giving a unique label (for example N#00334) to every reference. I then store all PDFs in the same folder, manually naming them LABEL_AUTHOR_YEAR_RESEARCH NOTE. (I do this manually because I had rather disappointing experiences using automatic storage of PDFs with Endnote X1 - latest when changing to a new computer chaos rules). Also, I enjoy having my prints well organized.
For example: N#00334_Zapata_2000_HPLC
I have read in the support that it is possible to import the label in the tag field, but also that it is not possible to automatically name the PDFs with the tag. That is a bit disappointing.
So, is there another way to "save" my labels and tell Mendeley to automatically organize/name the PDFs using the label field (or a Mendeley equivalent)? It would be great to speed things up that way.

Unable to sign in
I am using Ubuntu 12.04. When I try to login to mendeleydesktop it refuses to do so. Its gives an error" An error occured when contacting Mendeley Desktop. Contact support". I am using a proxy and setting are done using Ctrl+Shift+P.

MS Word Plug In
Hello,
I use Desktop Mendeley 1.8 but I cannot install the MS Word Plug In.
Error Message: "Mendeley was not able to find Microsoft Word on this Mac." I do have Word (2004) on my Mac. What can I do?

Difference in number of papers
I've got M desktop running with several groups/libraries. I hit that "sync" button regularly. When I shift over to M web, the group with over 1000 papers shows up as having about 600 papers. It's not a matter of duplicates -- I just ran that filter, cleaned up everything, and synced again.
Part of this may very well be that my understanding of how the desktop/web relationship works. I thought the sync function updated my M web groups so that they duplicated my M desktop. Should I be able to rely on the M web and just delete the M desktop? If so -- what should I do to be sure I don't drop from 1000 down to 600?

i have Mendeley installed on my pc and since yesterday it was working. Now, when i try to open the programm by clicking on the link on my desktop, it appears a message like this "Sign up for a free Mendeley account" and i have the possibility to sign in or to log in to an existing account. The problem is that when i choose the option and click on "continue" nothing happens and i cannot open the programm. It's not the first time that Mendeley is giving me problem and it's starting to be a little bit frustrating. What do i have to di this time?

* Is it possible that I just add a 'shortcut' to Word (2013 or 2010) like '{Mendling 2010}' to Word and Mendeley recognizes the shortcut itself and add it to the biblography?
* Is it possible to create own batch commands for Mendeley like 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Mendeley Desktop\Mendeley Desktop.exe /Mendling_2010' e.g. for MindManager so if I click on my MindManager link I automatically come to my Mendeley entry?

Authors' initials
I am building a list of papers. What is the best way to ensure that the authors namesappear always in the same order?
for example, I prefer the authors name followed by a commaand the the initials followed by another comma.

Importing from EndNote - multiple PDF files have same name
I am importing from EndNote using XML format. In EndNote I have several different articles that all have the default "fulltext.pdf" or "sdarticle.pdf" names from when they were downloaded. Although the files work correctly in EndNote, after import only the first citation with "fulltext.pdf" pulls in that file. All other citations that should have their own "fulltext.pdf" actually just point to the first one imported. Help!

Mendely not working--Windows 8 issues?
Hi,
I am having trouble using Mendeley and wonder if this may be because I'm also using Windows 8. My browser is Firefox. (Note: My technological skills normally consist of using a microwave properly.)
Firstly, every other time I open Mendeley Desktop, I am informed that it has crashed and needs to be recovered.
Secondly, Mendeley desktop won't import my EndNote libraries. It directs me to select a file (file, import, Endnote, popup box), but when I click on an EndNote library, it has a "rdb" folder and a "trash" folder. Selecting either does nothing.
Thirdly, although I followed the directions to install the web importer and it says it is in my bookmarks bar, the "install the web importer" warning is still on my dashboard.
Fourthly, I can't seem to import anything from anywhere unless I first download the PDF. This is normally not an option. I tried to use the bookmark "import to Mendeley" and I got this message: "Could not detect bibliographic metadata. Create metadata below to enhance the quality of this resource." Then I tried the following: send to, citation manager, create file, open with Mendeley Desktop, ok. This download a citation, but I have been unable to open or find this citation.
Lastly, I using the PsychInfo database and the "import to Mendeley" toolbar button doesn't work. My options are to "save citations to a file formatted for:
Direct Export in RIS Format (e.g. CITAVI, EasyBib, EndNote, ProCite, Reference Manager, Zotero)
Generic bibliographic management software
Citations in XML format
Citations in BibTeX format
Citations in MARC21 format
Direct Export to RefWorks
Direct Export to EndNote Web
I don't understand what to do here. Frankly, I don't understand what to do about any of this. I am attempting to switch to Mendeley from EndNote because EndNote definitely does not cooperate with Windows 8. I would be very appreciative of any help.

Importing
How do I export from Refworks to Mendeley using a Mac desktop?
When I click on Export in Refworks it shows a text format of all the article titles, authors etc. Not exactly a file that I can transfer over to Mendeley.
