Dear Mendeley support team,
I am struggling to add variables to the default document details. I need to be able to include the translator of a book and the year of original publication.
I found posts which deal with similar questions and learned that in theory it should be possible to include this kind of additional information.
In Dec 2011 the following was posted in the support forum:
"You can add extra fields to your references, including translators, by entering Mendeley Desktop and clicking Tools - Options (Preferences in Mac), and then going to Document Details and checking the boxes for the extra fields you wish to include in your references in the program."
However, if I click on "Tools" no "Options" button pops up! The only thing I can do under "Tools" is to invite colleagues, install the web importer and check for duplicates.
I have a Mac and use the free Mendeley version. Is there any way to include the translator of a book or original publication year?
