Synched but can't open PDFs

I have a new iPad and have signed in with my usual Mendeley password and I have synched. All my libraries are listed, but there are no icons showing down the left hand side (i.e. the upload icon or the blue icon to show the article is there) and when I tap on an article, the only part I can open is the abstract - I can't see where or how I open the full article. Can you help please?
