Sorting inline citations in Word

Hello, I am using IEEE with inline citations as [Number] in Word, but for some reasons the sorting seems random to me. I want to get the numbering chronological, e.g. [1], [2] and [3] as they appear in my document, but my first citation starts with [4] and my last is [3] for some reasons...
